Valkee Human Charger

2007

This device took light therapy to the next level with a stylish portable unit. Valkee, the maker of the headset, claimed the technology was able to relieve jet lag, migraines, and combat depression by sending light rays into your brain through your ears. Yes, really.

The cheerful ad campaign promised sun in your pocket but it was more like smoke and mirrors. It turns out that Valkee had a competitive relationship with the truth. A review of Valkee’s dubious “research” showed no support for the product’s claims at all, and labeled its marketing as dishonest and misleading.
