NATIVE UNION PLAY

2011-2012

This device had one single function: it replaced post-it notes on your fridge door. How? By allowing you to record a video memo for others to watch. This device promised to do away with boring sticky notes, replacing them with fun messages featuring your face grumbling about chores or singing jokes of the day. It was easy to use and the magnet kept it attached to the refrigerator.

But, It cost $60 USD. The 3 minutes of low quality video was worse than any mobile phone at the time. And it constantly needed new batteries. When video calls and direct messages became available with FaceTime and WhatsApp, the device joined the other fridge clutter along with the ugly souvenir magnet from your mother’s trip to Italy.
