Tesla Cybertruck

2024-2025

With its futuristic angular design and promises of groundbreaking innovation, the Cybertruck burst onto the scene as a symbol of Tesla's ambition to revolutionize the truck market. At the infamous launch event in 2019 the “virtually unbreakable” windows broke during the demonstration of their unbreakableness.

The Cybertruck quickly became famous for more than its distinctive design. For less fun things like poor build quality, production delays, low range, multiple malfunctions and frequent recalls. And price hikes. Embarrassing viral videos flooding the internet showing how the Cybertruck failed at basic truck tasks such as getting out of snow or sand. Automotive analysts called the truck "It's just a dumb product, top to bottom.”

In December 2024 Cybertruck production was ramped down and Tesla had problems selling the existing inventory of vehicles.

While unrelated to the technical or design failures of the Cybertruck, the strong association to Elon Musk has been devastating as more people have become “Musk haters.” Cybertruck drivers have to deal with being negatively judged and being given the middle finger.
